Welcome to the Calligraphers’ Guild of Western Australia.
The Calligraphers’ Guild of WA (Inc.) is a not for profit organisation dedicated to encourage, and assist the production and study of beautiful writing or calligraphy in a spirit of camaraderie and a shared passion for the craft.
We meet on the fourth Saturday of every month except December and January.

Throughout the year workshops are conducted by proficient members of the Guild and there are visits from time to time by professional calligraphers, both local and international. Whether you are new to calligraphy or a professional, we have something for everyone.

As well as the workshops, we compare notes and ideas at our monthly meetings, hold exhibitions of our work and produce a monthly newsletter to keep members informed and in touch with the Guild’s activities. We also liaise with other calligraphy groups Australia wide and internationally.

New Members are most welcome as to are Visitors.
Please let us know on your arrival that you are a visitor. Visit the Meetings page for details.
Next meeting: Saturday 26th July 2025.

The Guild’s Home page’s website banner was created by using a part of an image from an exemplar made by Sue Hopkins. The above image is the complete exemplar by Sue.
The name ‘Susan’ has been written with an Automatic Pen N⁰4 using water colour is then dropped onto the wet text, in this case Sue used Payne’s Grey and Vermillion.
Dropping ink, water colour or acrylic paint into words that have been written using clear water, creates differences in tone, resulting in magical and colourful effects. The water dilutes the medium and pulls it away from the original lines on the paper. This is called diffusion.
